On November 5, 2025, the Fashion Design Program at the National Textile University, Karachi Campus, organized an educational visit to TDF Ghar.
TDF Ghar is a restored heritage site by the Dawood Foundation that serves as a community space preserving Karachi’s history while promoting art, culture, and learning. The visit provided students with an enriching and insightful experience of the city’s vibrant cultural heritage.
During the visit, students toured the exhibition titled “From Borders to Belongings: Karachi’s Journey of Migration”, which beautifully highlights how the city has evolved through a remarkable history of movement, resilience, and diversity. The exhibition offered a meaningful understanding of Karachi’s identity, shaped by the stories and contributions of its diverse communities.
The visit was organized by Fashion Design faculty members Miss Aliza Shah and Miss Hina Zehra, as part of the program’s Community and Cultural Engagement Initiative, aimed at connecting students with local heritage and social narratives through experiential learning. Students also participated in interactive activities at the venue, allowing them to creatively reflect on the themes of migration, identity, and belonging through the lens of design and culture.
This visit not only enhanced students’ understanding of Karachi’s socio-cultural evolution but also supported their community service learning objectives, inspiring them to incorporate empathy, heritage, and inclusivity into their future design projects.
