National Textile University Karachi Campus Hosts a two-day training workshop "Learn to Weave with Khaddi"


The National Textile University (NTU) Karachi Campus organized a two-day workshop titled "Learn to Weave with Khaddi" on March 11 and 12, 2024. This insightful event aimed to promote the art of handwoven textiles and emphasize their cultural and economic importance. The workshop was meticulously planned to provide participants with hands-on experience in traditional weaving techniques. It featured skilled artisans and experienced instructors who guided attendees through the intricate process of creating handwoven textiles.

Over the two days, attendees engaged in various activities designed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Khaddi weaving. The sessions covered a range of topics, including the history of handwoven textiles, the different types of looms used, and the various techniques employed in creating intricate patterns and designs. Participants had the opportunity to practice these techniques, creating their own woven pieces under the guidance of expert weavers. The primary objective of the workshop was to revive and promote traditional handweaving techniques, highlighting their relevance in the modern textile industry.

The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the dedication and hard work of participants and instructors. Dr. Khalid Pasha, Director Karachi Campus NTU-KC, and Dr. Arsalan Ahmed, HoD-T&C, expressed satisfaction with the workshop's outcomes. They highlighted the importance of such initiatives in preserving cultural heritage and fostering innovation in the textile sector.

Dr. Khalid Pasha, Director Karachi Campus, thanked Dr. Arsalan, HoD-T&C, and Ms Hina Zehra, Lecturer Fashion Design, for organizing the workshop. He especially thanked the trainers Mr. Naeem Qadri and Mr. Muhammad Rizwan for their time and providing training.
