National Textile University Karachi Campus Shines at TEXPO 2024, Showcasing Innovation and Bridging Academia with Industry

National Textile University (NTU) Karachi Campus made a lasting impact at TEXPO 2024, held from September 23 to 25 at the Karachi Expo Center. The event, organized by the ORIC departments of NTU Faisalabad and NTU Karachi, brought Pakistan’s textile innovations to the forefront, attracting a diverse array of national and international visitors, including key industry delegations captivated by NTU's advancements in textile design, sustainability, and technology. Engr. Muhammad Waqas and Engr. Muhammad Haroon Shoukat led the NTU team, emphasizing the university’s commitment to industry-academia collaboration.

A highlight of NTU’s participation was the Department of Textile and Clothing’s showcase of student projects from the Fashion Design program, featuring cutting-edge sustainable and innovative design concepts. Managed by Mr. Haroon Shoukat, Ms. Hina Zehra, Ms. Aliza Shah, Ms. Ghanwa Hanif and a team of dedicated student volunteers—Fatima, Urooj, Fabeeha, Zaid, Usman, and Hammad—the NTU booth impressed visitors with a smooth, professional presentation of students’ creative solutions in textile development.

To deepen student engagement with the textile sector, NTU-KC’s ORIC office also arranged a student visit to TEXPO. This experience, supported by Mr. Muneeb Shafqat, Ms. Ghanwa, Ms. Hina Zehra, and Ms. Aliza Shah provided students the chance to interact with industry leaders and explore the latest trends and technologies firsthand.

The resounding support from Prof. Dr. Khalid Pasha, Director of Campus, and Dr. Muhammad Ayyoob, Head of the Department of Textile and Clothing (DTC), underscored NTU’s dedication to bridging academia with industry, reinforcing its role as a leader in the textile sector. Their vision enabled NTU’s impactful presence at TEXPO 2024, marking another step toward preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the textile industry through practical, real-world exposure.
