The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at NTU Karachi Campus, in collaboration with IPO Pakistan, successfully organized a full-day workshop on "How to Protect Your Designs as Intellectual Property" on February 11, 2025.
The session was led by Ms. Shams un Nisa, Senior Examiner of Patents/Designs, who provided valuable insights into design registration and protection. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. Iftikhar Ali Qureshi (Technical Director, Sooraj Cotton Mill), Professor Dr. Khalid Pasha (Director, NTU Karachi Campus), and Dr. Muhammad Ayyoob (HoD, Textile and Textile and Clothing Department).
Faculty members Dr. Arslan, Dr. Danish, Mr. Sajawal Rehman Khan, Ms. Hina, and Ms. Aliza, along with Ms. Sana Campwala (Textile Design Lecturer, Indus University), Ms. Mehwish (Entrepreneur, Design Teacher, Brand Owner), and Ms. Samreen from Bharucha & Co.—guests from outside NTU— actively participated, making the session highly interactive. Students, entrepreneurs, and researchers engaged in insightful discussions, enhancing their understanding of intellectual property rights and design protection.
As a token of appreciation, Ms. Shams un Nisa was presented with a shield, and certificates were distributed to all participants by Mr. Iftikhar Ali Qureshi and Professor Dr. Khalid Pasha.
The workshop was a great success, reflecting NTU’s commitment to fostering innovation and industry collaboration.
