Dr. Abdul Rehman holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), specializing in Smart Self-healing and Recyclable Elastomers. With over 12 years of experience across academia, research, and industry, he possesses extensive expertise in the design, development, and performance evaluation of advanced self-healing polymers and multifunctional composite materials.
His research focuses on polymer systems capable of autonomous damage repair, aimed at enabling enhanced durability, sustainability, and functional performance for applications in automotive, aerospace, engineering structures, soft robotics, flexible sensors, and wearable electronics. He has authored more than 20 research articles published in WoS and Scopus indexed journals, along with a book chapter published by Elsevier.
In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dr. Rehman has served on multiple administrative roles within the Polymer Engineering department. From 2016 to 2021, he held positions including Convener of Industrial Liaison & Linkages, Convener of the Job Placement Cell & Career Counseling, Coordinator (Academics), Secretary of the Board of Studies (BOS), Secretary of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB), and Member of the Faculty Board of Studies (FBOS), contributing to curriculum development, industry engagement, and student career development.
