Dr. Hafiz Shehbaz Ahmad is a dynamic textile engineer, researcher, and academic with deep expertise in knitted fabric development, composite materials, and electromagnetic shielding textiles. He holds a Ph.D. in Textile Engineering from National Textile University (NTU), Faisalabad, where he conducted Pakistan’s first-ever confidential research on nanofiller-enhanced carbon fiber composites for microwave absorption—contributing significantly to stealth textile technology.
Dr. Ahmad began his professional journey at Masood Textile Mills (MTM), one of the country’s largest vertically integrated knitwear exporters. As an R&D officer, he led fabric innovations for international brands such as Walmart, Amazon, Under Armour, and Adidas, developing high-performance fabrics tailored to global market needs.
In 2014, he transitioned to academia at NTU, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Knitting and shaping its core curriculum. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Knitting Mechanisms, Knit Design, and Specialty Knitting, and has been a mentor to numerous BS, MS, and Ph.D. students. His leadership extends to curriculum design, research supervision, departmental coordination, and national-level student competitions like "Knit to Achieve."
Dr. Ahmad’s research focuses on functional textiles, comfort-enhancing knit structures, auxetic fabrics, compression wear, and advanced composites. He has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles, contributed a book chapter published by CRC Press, and presented at international conferences. His recent postdoctoral research centered on sustainable textile production through polyester waste recycling.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ahmad serves as a technical consultant for NaqCoDE Technologies, supporting aircraft RCS reduction and EMI shielding enhancements—bridging textile science with aerospace innovation.
With a multidisciplinary research vision and strong industry-academia linkage, Dr. Hafiz Shehbaz Ahmad is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of textile engineering through innovation, collaboration, and capacity building.
