One-Day Training Workshop on “Use of Digital Resources for Academic Research” Held at NTU Faisalabad


A one-day training workshop on “Use of Digital Resources for Academic Research” was successfully organized by the Library, National Textile University (NTU), Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center (PASTIC) Sub-Centre, Faisalabad.

The workshop was officially inaugurated by the Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Malik, Dean, Textile Engineering Department, while Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Library Head, NTU, delivered the welcome address. Faculty members from all departments, BS, MS, and PhD research scholars, along with a large number of staff members and students, actively participated in the training session.

The main objective of the workshop was to enhance awareness and practical skills regarding the effective use of digital resources, online databases, academic search engines, and research tools to improve the quality of academic research, teaching, and learning outcomes.

The workshop was organized by Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Library Head, NTU, while Mr. Muhammad Umar Farooq, Chief Librarian, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, served as the Resource Person and Trainer. During his interactive sessions, the trainer emphasized the importance of digital libraries, scholarly databases, plagiarism checking tools, citation management software, and research ethics. Participants were also given hands-on practice using various digital resources and research tools, followed by a comprehensive question-and-answer session.

In the concluding session, Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, Rector, National Textile University, Faisalabad, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he highlighted the growing significance of digital resources in modern research and stressed that teachers and academic institutions must adopt innovative digital tools to enhance research productivity and academic excellence. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of NTU Library and PASTIC and encouraged the continuation of such professional development initiatives.

The Rector also extended his gratitude to Mr. Muhammad Husnain, Additional Director, PASTIC, Mr. Muhammad Umar Farooq, Resource Person, and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Library Head, NTU, for their valuable contributions and dedicated efforts in making the workshop successful.

At the end of the ceremony, training certificates and shields were distributed among the participants and organizers. Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed remarked that the NTU Library has consistently organized training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, lectures, and book fairs on diverse academic topics in previous years and will continue to promote knowledge sharing and research culture in the future. In the end, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Library Head, National Textile University Faisalabad, stated that the entire credit for the successful organization of this workshop goes to the esteemed Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, Rector, National Textile University Faisalabad, whose continuous patronage, guidance, and encouragement made this academic activity possible. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Rector and added that under his dynamic leadership, exemplary initiatives are being taken to promote research, teaching, and academic excellence at the university.
